After reading the book ACRES OF DIAMONDS by Russell Conwell, I am convinced we are all leaving the diamond mines in our own backyards as we travel around the world looking for larger diamonds, when in fact the diamonds we seek are found within us and our hometown, from whence we came. Therefore, we are calling the podcast, #IAMRIVIERABEACH.
Today's Guest: Henry Taylor
Energized by tenacity and a thirst for knowledge, Mr. Taylor was the only member of his family to graduate from high school and continue on to graduate from higher education. After high school, he obtained his Associate of Arts degree from Roosevelt Junior College. Mr. Taylor then worked as a carpenter for various building contractors before becoming the first African American Building Inspector for the City of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County and in the State of Florida; one of many “firsts” for him. He was also a member of the Pride of Palm Beach Masonic Lodge, PHA, where he had the honor of becoming the first African American to be elevated to 33rd Degree Mason in Palm Beach County.
During his time at the City of West Palm Beach, Mr. Taylor found an interest in politics and became the first Riviera Beach native to be elected to the Riviera Beach City Council where he served for over 8 years.  After 8 years of service to the City of West Palm Beach, he became a Building Inspector for Palm Beach County where he worked for over 30 years before his retirement in 2008.

Warren Mickens is a native of Gary, Indiana, and a product of its public school system. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana's Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard University. His MBA focused on Operations and Strategy, not Finance.
He has enjoyed a host of challenging career experiences. Warren began his career as an engineer at Cummins Engine Company and was later the Director of the Worldwide Government Business.
Warren transitioned to the telecommunications industry in the 1990s and has held several Operations and Engineering Roles since.
Warren became interested in investing in the late 1980s for two reasons:
1) He was scammed by a former work acquaintance who had become a financial manager.
2) He became a father of two sons and concerns over the costs of college education and retirement seemed overwhelming. Warren's family did not have a background with financial resources. His father died unexpectedly leaving four children aged 3-16 behind when Warren was in third grade. He rolled up his sleeves and joined an investment club and decided to learn about investing. He learned a lot. It worked.
Warren is active as a trustee at Rose-Hulman. He and his wife Joyce reside in
Denver's Southern Suburbs. Their two adult sons are both engineers.

For the past forty-nine years many of the young people that he mentored went on to become professional athletes. He always tried to impress upon the young people the importance of becoming contributing citizens who give back to their communities. He believes that if he can keep these young people involved in sports, and other actthat they will not turn to negative street influences.
Artie Williams has had many accomplishments in life, but none more important than being a part of M.A.M.A, Inc. founded in memory of his nephew Torrey Donnell Manuel. Artie knows firsthand about the violence that has claimed the lives of many of our young people, so he vows to fight to prevent another mother from suffering the loss of a child to senseless violence.

Oneonecoco Investment Club was incorporated on May 12, 2009. The first meeting was held with six members. The name Oneonecoco was based on a Jamaican expression: “oneonecoco full basket” which means much can be attained by continuous investments in small increments. One member came up with the name and the other members agreed.
The club meets on the first Sunday of the month, except if a holiday falls on that weekend. Dues were $50 per month since the club’s inception but were increased to $60 a few years ago. The members are encouraged to present stocks for consideration of purchase by the club; and education on stocks and terminologies relating to investing.
The club’s executive board members consist of a president, secretary, and treasurer. Elections are held yearly. Currently, Oneonecoco has eleven members and owns 20 stocks.
The club members have a fantastic synergy together. The meetings are upbeat and informative.
